3D Renders

Experimental Modeling & Digital Tactility

The Overview

This collection is a study of digital materialism, created entirely in Blender. The work explores the intersection of high-fidelity textures, ranging from iridescent glass to hyperreal felt, and experimental 3D typography to create a visual language that feels both surreal and intensely present.

Technical Process

  • The Engine: All models were developed and refined in Blender, with final rendering primarily handled through Cycles to achieve accurate physics-based light and material interactions.

  • Asset Optimisation: I focus on a "high-detail, low-waste" approach, ensuring that complex models—like the "Hello Panda" or "Milkmen" studies—are performance-optimised while maintaining visual depth.

  • Visual Synthesis: Many projects involve a multi-layered post-production process in Photoshop to enhance colour profiles and add the signature "editorial grit" that defines my style.

Core Focus Areas

1. Experimental 3D Typography

I treat letterforms as physical objects, exploring how weight, light, and gravity interact with digital type.

  • Material Studies: Leveraging custom shaders to create "holographic" and "liquid" typographic forms that shift in response to virtual lighting.

  • Spatial Layout: Designing type that exists within a 360-degree environment, moving beyond static 2D boundaries.

2. Tactical Digital Textures

A recurring theme in my work is the recreation of physical "imperfections" in a digital space to add character and grit.

  • Surface Realism: Meticulous modeling of everyday items (like carabiners, keys, and snack packaging) to highlight their material complexity.

  • Gloss & Grit: Using high-contrast lighting to accentuate glossy reflections alongside digital grain, lens flares, and "scratched" overlays for an analog-inspired finish.

3. Narrative Objects

Many of these visuals function as "narrative portraits" of objects, where each trinket and texture tells a story of its own.

  • The Carabiner Keychain: A complex assembly of diverse materials (felted plush, translucent plastic, and metallic tokens) rendered with sharp precision.

  • The "Strawycubes" Logo: A high-fidelity 3D execution of my personal brand identity, focusing on soft-touch textures and vibrant, playful forms.
